Private by default

Every student profile is private when created. Nothing becomes visible to connections, organizations, or the public unless you deliberately change it.

GPA & sensitive data stay hidden

GPA is optional and hidden by default. Test scores, peer benchmarks, and any support information live in restricted storage and are never shown publicly.

No open adult-to-minor messaging

A conversation involving a minor is not delivered until a connected, approved parent consents. This is enforced on the server, not just hidden in the UI.

No exact addresses

We store and display only city and state. A street address is never collected or shown — anywhere.

Documents are reviewed, never auto-merged

Report cards and transcripts are private to the student and a connected parent. Extracted academics merge into a profile only after explicit approval.

COPPA-aware by design

Children under 13 cannot self-register. A parent creates and manages the account and provides verifiable consent before personal information is collected.

Defense in depth

Sensitive actions — recording consent, approving a document, reading support information, or approving a conversation with a minor — go through audited server functions, not direct database writes. Even if a client tried to do the wrong thing, the rules and functions would stop it.
